Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on fourteen separate times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger found the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side fired twice in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. First, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital equaliser in the final moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the last thirteen seasons.
